A Family Mentor is friend with purpose who offers practical help and mentoring towards a persons life goals.
The aim is to strengthen the whole family through a one-to-one mentoring relationship between a volunteer and an adult.
“A series of tragic events set my life on a different path. I felt a failure. COACH embraced my whole family. Now my life is so different. My heart is open to new possibilities.”
An equipped volunteer Mentor will draw alongside, listen to and provide support to a family. The Mentor will encourage skills that will enable a family to achieve their life goals, connecting them with meaningful community activities and services as needed.
Mentoring is a way to bring out the best in people and help them make use of their own resources. The COACH program helps families develop their own realistic and achievable goals and action plans.
